Cookie Cutter Christianity

I'm a follower of Jesus Christ. That probably shocks most people, especially when they get to know me. That's because most people have an image of exactly what a Christian should be. They go to church services and see the style of dress, music, and people's general interest, and think to themselves, "This isn't for me."

The truth is non of that matters. God is more interested in how you live your life. The way you see and treat people is what matters. Very few people understand what a relationship truly is. Religion is actually the opposite of relationship. Most religions will tell you that God laid down a bunch of rules, and we are all supposed to follow, or burn. Relationship is derived from the word, 'relative.' Relative means that God deals with you differently than He deals with me. He relates to you. Nobody can tell you what style of music to like, or what movies to watch. I'm pretty sure they can try and use The Bible to justify that, but they would come up short.

The entire journey you are on is about facing an adversary, overcoming, and realizing who got you through that tormenting experience. This would naturally entail you thanking God, who is responsible for your success.

Christianity today has become so cookie cutter, ritualistic, and forced. They start service off usually by singing, which is their way of giving worship. Worship should come when you actually have a reason to. Not something forced on Sunday at a specific time. If it's not from your heart, then it's fake anyways. I'm not saying I'm against singing on Sunday, for if you are truly giving thanks for what has happened, then praise God. I'm against doing it because, "that's what everyone else is doing."

Jesus' yoke is light, and religion has added so much to the pile. You were brought into this life, and are continually writing your autobiography. The story of your life is what your soul (psychology) is going through. There is ups and downs, love and hate, fear and victory. What's socially acceptable or popular will always change over time, but the challenges of a journey will always be the same. God is not concerned with your earthly apparel or concerns. He deals with the Heavenly. The reason being, is The Heavenly reigns over the earthly. If you fix your Heaven, your earth will change.

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. - Colossians 3:2 (NIV)

God bless,
Ryan
