Where do you dwell? Heaven or Earth?

Most people think of Heaven as some far away paradise.  Just beyond the cosmos, and light years away.  Very few think of Heaven as a spiritual domain.  Very few think of it as a reality that you dwell in.  Very few think of it, inside you.

. . . nor shall they say, Lo, here; or lo, there; for lo, the reign of God is within you. - Luke 17:21 (YLT)

It is always inside of us, but it is not always a reality.  Sometimes we are dwelling in Heaven, and our faith is far above our circumstances.  Other times, we are simply dwelling on earth.  Which is a place without faith, and simply trusting our senses and reasoning above all else.  So the question remains: Why does our reality change?

Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back.  But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven.  The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him. - Revelation 12: 7-9 (NIV)

Notice a couple of things in the passage.  One is, the Dragon (adversary) is in Heaven.  Second, the Dragon was leading the whole world astray.  (Note: For those who think this happened in the past, read the entire chapter 12 of Revelation)

In the story of Job, God ask a very unusual question to Satan:

Then the LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.” - Job 1:8 (NIV)

Where is this conversation taking place?  Heaven.

There is a reality that is not observable in your current state.  The adversary is also dwelling in Heaven, and looks for anyway to bring you out of Heaven and down to Earth.  In Earth, your senses tell the story, and logic is applied to your reasoning.  In Heaven, you listen to Spirit, and logic loses to trust.  There is a higher place to dwell.  A place, where anything is possible, and God's will is done.  This place is a kingdom that belongs to God, and it resides in you.  There are wars happening on earth.  There is even a bigger war going inside of you.

The only way to win, is to trust God . . .and just stay where you are.

True. The greatest battle is the one that is going on within ourselves. Likewise, the greatest battle that Christianity is facing is happening within the walls of our own church buildings. As Jeremiah did for Judah, we too must do for all of our brothers and sisters in Christ - we need to confront the sin within ourselves.
